We know that looking for a job right now may seem more difficult than ever. With lots of competition out there for what seems like fewer job opportunities, there are also plenty of companies looking. We are here to help you get back on your feet and to support you all the way, however we can!
Get online and look at job websites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, company careers sites, google jobs and job boards to search for vacancies. Make a list of all the companies that are actively recruiting and check out their own careers websites for other vacancies they may have that could be perfect for you!
Use contacts and reach out to ex-colleagues, friends you made while studying or put a post on your LinkedIn page to let everyone know you are actively looking. This can be a really great way to make new professional connections using existing ones to help you on your job hunt. Build on existing experiences and network!
Keep up to date using job alerts to stay informed and on the lookout for specific roles or businesses and when they are recruiting. Most of the major job boards and LinkedIn offer job alerts to your email address, meaning you'll never miss out on what could be the job for you!
Speak to recruiters to broaden your search. Specialist recruitment agencies may know of some vacancies before they go onto the job boards. Their recruiters are also experts in their field and will be able to give you some good advice! It may be worth signing up for temporary work as well which could really take the pressure off while you job search!
Don't give up and keep applying even when it feels hopeless! Sometimes it can be really tough not hearing anything back and you may feel as though all of your hard work and applications have been ignored. Don't be afraid to follow up if you haven't heard back and keep a note of all the companies you've already applied to. This will help you to keep on top of your applications, then you will know who they are when they do call back!
